Meet Dr. Turnquest
Dexter Turnquest, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general and bariatric surgeon who is the managing director at Turnquest Surgical Solutions in Houston, Texas. His bariatric program has been certified as a Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and has also earned recognition as a Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery in Texas.
Dr. Turnquest also serves as the Bariatric Medical Director at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital. He has held a number of positions at Houston Northwest Medical Center, including Chief of Staff, Chairman of the Surgical Department, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
For Dr. Turnquest practicing medicine is not just about being a good doctor, but about designing and implementing superior treatment programs that help his patients make life-altering improvements in their health. For more than two decades, he has been doing just that, often earning regional and national accolades in the process.
Dr. Turnquest began his professional career as a medical student at the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida. Upon graduation from medical school, he completed his internship, residency, and fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
When he isn’t busy helping his patients, Dr. Turnquest is active with numerous medical and professional groups. He has served on the boards of the Houston Academy of Medicine and the Harris County Medical Society, and he is actively involved with the Texas Medical Association where he serves on the Trauma and EMS Committee.
In his spare time, Dr. Turnquest enjoys spending time with his wife and children.
